Visiting EBO
Where to find us
Eyre Bird Observatory is located within the Nuytsland Nature Reserve on the south coast of Western Australia. To get here requires a 4-wheel-drive vehicle.
From Cocklebiddy, travel east along the Eyre Highway until you reach the signposted turnoff to Eyre Bird Observatory. Turn south and travel down this gravel road. You will come to a disused communications tower. The gravel road stops here. Turn right (travelling west) along the rocky track and you will see signs saying that you are entering Nuytsland Nature Reserve. Continue until you come to a sign that says "Lookout Point". If you spare a moment or two to take in the view you will see the sand track like a white line heading towards Eyre Bird Observatory and the Southern Ocean. To go beyond this lookout point requires a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. Proceed down the scarp on a steep descent southwards and you will come to the 10 kilometre sand track. Proceed with caution and you will arrive at the Observatory.
